The children were sleeping asleep in their cribs while I was strapped in with an infant on my back. Ha! We were getting closer to finishing, but it was still a long distance to go. For furnishing the space would take a lot of effort with regards to both time and funds. It was also going to be a challenge to do my favourite shopping. My three sons and I searched for hidden gems while at estate sales to reduce my expenses. Our weekly routine was to spend Thursday-Saturday walking through estate sales and garage sales to purchase a mix of antique and brand new furniture while I spent weekends painting and sanding the driveway. It was kind of similar to the following... This is where my love for restoring antique furniture started. Even though our home had been equipped, I couldn't stop. There was an area in the market in which I sold my items. Then, my collection got to the point that the space I had was inadequate. Then I began hosting open houses at my house which saw over 1 000 guests came through on the span of a weekend. They could buy anything they saw on the ground floor. Growing Days was created in this house. As my business flourished as did our family. I was finding that balance between what it took starting a new venture and be a mommy too. Growing Days just seemed to fit. My daughter Nora was our fourth baby. The direction of my business was excellent, however I needed to take some time off. I decided to take a break from making vintage furniture, and I slowed down my speed to be at home to raise the children. It was exactly what I was looking for. In the course of a few months, my phone started to ring. Numerous people reached me to ask for advice on home improvement and decorating. The majority of them were people who visited my home during my furniture open houses. In the course of my work I began adding clients in a series of. But it wasn't that long before I was managing many clients and operated a successful home remodeling business. If you'd have told me that this business of mine could become the premise of a tv show that airs on the DIY Network I probably would have laughed. Indeed, I am laughing slightly when I recall the story.
